About Oshkosh Thunder Promotions, LLC.

Oshkosh Thunder Promotions, LLC is a non-profit boating club based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin that was formed to promote and organize safe and family-friendly boating activities in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area. Founded by Mark and Amie Lee, Oshkosh Thunder Promotions is in its 15th year, and has sponsored, promoted, or organized events such as an annual Poker Run, a early spring pre-boating season gathering, power boat races, and other boat related events.

Expansive waterways and a central location have made Oshkosh Wisconsin's "go-to" boating destination. It seems only natural to capitalize on on the opportunities that this boating-friendly community offered, and Oshkosh Thunder Promotions was up for the challenge. As we see more boaters and boats come to Oshkosh and the surrounding areas, Oshkosh Thunder Promotions is committed to educating power boaters to respect other boaters, be responsible with alcohol consumption, and be an all-around safe boater.

Oshkosh Thunder Promotions is best known for the Oshkosh Thunder Poker Run traditionally held on Father's Day weekend in June. The NON-DRINKING regatta is held at business on the Fox River in downtown Oshkosh and offers some fantastic boating on Lake Winnebago. In addition to the poker run, Oshkosh Thunder has organized other boating events including Crack the Ice, a spring boaters reunion, and Oshkosh Thunderfest held on Labor Day weekend. 

Local businesses benefit from Oshkosh Thunder Promotions events by gaining exposure to potential new customers since events extend across five lakes and two rivers. The Oshkosh Thunder Poker Run is known as the Midwest's Premier Poker Run and has a national presence throughout the Midwest, extending to both the east and west coast.

Oshkosh Thunder Promotions  events provide an opportunity to:

  • Promote NO DRINKING and boating safety for performance boat owners as local boating traffic continues to increase in Oshkosh and surrounding communities.

  • Provide support for the navigational buoy systems on Lake Winnebago, Lake Butte des Mortes, and Poygan in an attempt to make the waterways safer for all boaters.

  • Promote local area businesses by exposing them to upwards of 400 event participants.

  • Provide monetary support for charities such as Children's Hospital, Boys and Girls Club, animal shelters, and others as well as offering support for the Sheriff's Department Boating Division and the DNR. In the past 15 years, Oshkosh Thunder has donated thousands of dollars to charities and plans to continue to do so in the future.
